The Journey

My parents started teaching me about health at a young age, and encouraged me to actively invest in my health as a young adult.  I shifted to a new paradigm of diet & exercise in the late 90s; I was a world-ranked martial artist, and I started learning about fasting, cleansing, & detoxifying.  When I traveled with my parents, we might get a massage, but that was the extent of the spa experience.  After they passed, I spent more time at the spa on a cruise.  I went to their flagship spa in Arizona a couple years later, and I realized that it's not just about getting a massage or sitting in a sauna;  it's a holistic approach to healing and developing one's whole self.  My view shifted at that point from "I like going to the spa," to "I need to build my own spa and make this an integral part of my life." 

The Lesson

When I first started building my "home spa," I bought a $1,200 infrared sauna from that big A to Z company, which I later realized was the cheapest one for a reason;  flimsy walls, made in China, and not very effective. There is a big difference in quality when graduating from the $1,000 to the $5,000-$10,000 range.  High-quality saunas are made of better materials that last longer.  It is absolutely worth the investment.  At The Helix Shop, we believe in quality over quantity!
